What is bacopa?
Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri) is a small succulent plant from the wetlands of India. In Ayurveda it is called brahmi, in reference to Brahma: the plant of knowledge. Indian scholars traditionally used it to memorise the long sacred texts passed down orally.
What tradition says
- The great plant of memory and learning in Ayurveda;
- traditionally associated with a settled mind: focus without nervousness;
- a companion for periods of study, exams and sustained intellectual work.
Dosage and use
Bacopa is a background nootropic: its traditional effects build over several weeks of regular use. The extract is taken as drops diluted in a glass of water, 1 to 2 times a day, as a course of at least 3 weeks, ideally longer. See the label for the precise dosage.
