Ashwagandha and Ayurveda

Ashwagandha and Ayurveda

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional medicine from India, over 5,000 years old. It is based on holistic principles: health is the balance between body, mind and soul, and illness results from an imbalance between the three. It combines diet, medicinal plants, meditation, yoga, aromatherapy and massage, and considers each individual unique, with their own constitution called dosha.

Ashwagandha in the Ayurvedic tradition

The traditional use of ashwagandha in India goes back more than 3,000 years. Known as "Indian ginseng" for its adaptogenic properties, it is considered a rasayana in Ayurveda: a substance that nourishes and strengthens body and mind, increasing longevity and vitality.

It has been used for millennia for fatigue, stress, anxiety, low mood, insomnia, joint pain, low libido and fertility. It is also a nervous system tonic, calming the mind and reducing cortisol levels.

Moon milk, a modern drink inspired by Ayurveda

Moon milk draws on Ayurvedic and Chinese traditions of using plants and spices for relaxation and sleep. It has become popular in the West as a natural alternative to sleeping pills.

Moon milk recipe

Heat a cup of your favourite plant milk (soy, almond...), add a pinch of turmeric and chai spices, a small spoon of honey or maple syrup, then add 1 to 2 droppers of our ashwagandha extract.

All that's left is to enjoy this comforting moment and relax before bed!
