Seeking quality ashwagandha
We were already familiar with ashwagandha when we decided in 2017 to integrate it into a new recipe for our Tiboom energy crackers.
We tested different ashwagandha powders and simultaneously began cultivating it in our medicinal plant garden. Once the root was harvested, dried and ground, we compared it with commercial products available at the time. The verdict was clear: commercial options lacked the flavour and potency of what we had grown ourselves.
Surprising, given that ashwagandha is famous for its very strong aroma — its Sanskrit name means "horse's odour". Many commercial powders appear to have been ground long before reaching shelves, explaining their lack of freshness and reduced effectiveness.
Seeking local partner growers
We then searched for local growers willing to take on organic ashwagandha cultivation with us. We found them! Near our Quimper laboratory, a couple of growers accepted the challenge of greenhouse trials. Months later, we harvested our first fresh, top-quality roots!
Ashwagandha naturally grows in India and warm climates; here in Brittany we grow it under glass. Its advantage: very low water consumption, making it all the more ecological.
The birth of Adaptitude
This sparked our passion for ashwagandha cultivation. Aware of the quality gaps in commercial products, we decided to create our own brand of local ashwagandha: Adaptitude was born — a range of organic ashwagandha extract and other adaptogenic plants, cultivated locally whenever possible.
Our goal: sharing our knowledge and passion for adaptogens with complete transparency, offering a local, quality, effective alternative guaranteeing ethics and freshness.
