Tulsi, a sacred and medicinal plant!

Tulsi, a sacred and medicinal plant!

Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), also known as "holy basil", is a medicinal plant of the Lamiaceae family, native to India. Used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, it is considered the "queen of herbs" in India! In Sanskrit, tulsi means "incomparable".

A sacred plant

Tulsi is often grown near temples and homes in India, considered an incarnation of the goddess Tulsi, associated with Lakshmi.

  • Spiritual protection: said to repel negative energies
  • Tulsi malas: its beads are made into meditation necklaces
  • Purifying properties: tulsi-infused water purifies body and soul
  • Act of devotion: growing tulsi with daily prayers and offerings
  • Symbol of love and harmony: linked to the marriage of Lord Vishnu and goddess Tulsi

A medicinal plant

Recent scientific studies have confirmed its exceptional properties. Tulsi is an adaptogen: it helps fight stress and anxiety, strengthens the immune system and improves resistance to environmental stress.

  • Respiratory system: relieves colds, cough, asthma, bronchitis
  • Anti-inflammatory: joint and muscle pain relief
  • Digestion: relieves bloating and digestive discomfort
  • Cardiovascular: helps regulate blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Anti-infectious: antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal
  • Oral health, stress reduction and detoxification (especially liver)

At Adaptitude we craft hydro-alcoholic extracts from fresh plants (maceration followed by ultrasonic extraction) and have developed local organic cultivation with partner growers to guarantee freshness, quality and ethics!
